They discovered remnants of stone structures brick flooring and a packed mud floor from the Turkish period. Even a Turkish-era sink with an iron-barred filter was found.
The northern part housed cannon foundries in the 16th to 18th centuries. During the excavations hundreds of carved stone and cast-iron bullets possibly dating from the recapture of Buda in 1686 were uncovered.
The restored Varkert Bazár-Lépcsőpavilon now boasts exhibition halls a multifunctional event hall and a visitor center. It’s a place where history and modernity blend seamlessly. You can even ascend to Buda Castle via an escalator a modern marvel nestled within this historical setting.
