Founded in 1971 by Pastor Georg Rückert the Samuel-Heinicke-Realschule stands proudly in Munich. It’s a remarkable institution. A private school recognized by the state it caters to students with hearing impairments. The school’s namesake Samuel Heinicke was a pioneer in deaf education. The Samuel-Heinicke-Realschule isn’t just any school. It offers a unique seven-year program. This means students can complete their Realschule education in eleven years. The school moved to Nymphenburg in 2006. It’s now in a new building on the site of a former school for the blind. In 2007 the school incorporated the Realschule branch of the Bavarian state school for the deaf.
