Wondering how a former maternity hospital transformed into a leading tertiary institute? That’s the story of the Auckland Institute of Studies. It stands here in Mt Albert. The Auckland Institute of Studies, or AIS, began its journey in 1990. It started in Auckland’s Downtown shopping center. In 1993, AIS made a significant move. It relocated to the former St Helens Maternity Hospital. This marked the beginning of its transformation into a residential campus.
Today, the Auckland Institute of Studies operates on two campuses. There is the St Helens Campus and the Asquith Campus. The St Helens Campus is located at 28a Linwood Ave. The Asquith Campus is at 120 Asquith Ave.
