Metrocrest Presbyterian Church

In 1989, a seed of faith was planted in Carrollton, Texas. This seed blossomed into what we now know as Metrocrest Presbyterian Church. Metrocrest Presbyterian Church held its first service in a leased space at the Trinity Mills Village Shopping Center. Imagine the excitement of that first gathering on October 8th, a small group of believers united by their shared faith. Rev. Ron Dunton, the church planter and evangelist, led the service, setting the tone for the church’s future. Metrocrest Presbyterian Church continued to grow, transitioning from a “mission church” to a “particular church” within the North Texas Presbytery of the Presbyterian Church in America on June 20, 1993. This marked a significant step, with the installation of the church’s first ruling elders and deacons. Rev. Ron Dunton was officially installed as the first pastor of Metrocrest Presbyterian Church. A few years later, on April 3, 1996, Metrocrest Presbyterian Church found its permanent home. The church purchased a 2.9-acre property at 1265 East Hebron Parkway, right at the corner of Hebron Parkway and Rolling Oaks Drive. The congregation finally moved into their newly constructed building in August 1997. The church continued to flourish, leading to an expansion project completed in the fall of 2008. This second phase added much-needed education and office space, a Multi-Purpose Room, and updates to the main building. Metrocrest Presbyterian Church continued its journey of faith, welcoming Bill Lovell as its third pastor in December 2020. A significant moment in Metrocrest Presbyterian Church’s history came on January 30, 2021. The church united with Christ Church Carrollton, a decision supported by nearly all members of both congregations. This union marked a new chapter, strengthening the church’s presence and impact in the community.
