It represents a project launched in 2010 by Instituto 215. This was a pivotal time for Rio, a period of transformation in the lead-up to major global events. Encontro de Vida emerged as a reflection of the city’s multifaceted daily life, capturing its pulse and its complexities. Over nearly a decade, Encontro de Vida has become a hallmark of Instituto 215. Its actions are centered around fostering dialogue. They create spaces for diverse urban perspectives to converge. They emphasize the multitude of voices and viewpoints that shape this metropolis. Encontro de Vida hosts regular debates, sparking exchanges on strategic urban issues. It encourages the formation of collaborative networks. Through community engagement, Encontro de Vida seeks to uncover the critical questions we face today. These questions help us envision the city we desire for tomorrow. Encontro de Vida has collaborated with esteemed institutions dedicated to understanding culture and urban life. Partners have included Casa do Saber Rio, ESPM-Rio, and the Museu de Arte do Rio. These gatherings bring together diverse influencers and representatives. They include youth leaders from the periphery, activists, researchers, journalists, and representatives from both public and private organizations. All are united by a shared interest in the issues at hand. The project’s mission is to become increasingly itinerant and inclusive. It aims to highlight paths toward a more just and democratic city. Previous partnerships have also included CESeC (Center for Security and Citizenship Studies/UCAM), IPP (Pereira Passos Urban Planning Institute), and Universidade das Quebradas. Supporters have included Souza Cruz and the Escola Superior de Propaganda e Marketing.
