Did you know that the Miracle Healing Temple in Chicago has a fascinating history? It began humbly in 1989. Reverend and Sister Edwards opened their home to found the church. Several other Chicago area ministries helped. They included Reverend Eddie Miller of SureWay M.B. Church. Also Reverend Oscar Lomax of LaCross M.B. Church. Reverend David Coleman of New Mt. Sinai M.B. Church was involved too. And finally Reverend Clement Townsend of Faith Hope and Love M.B. Church. Their first baptisms were at New Mt. Sinai M.B. Church on West 59th Street. For two years and three Sundays the Miracle Healing Temple services remained in the Edwards’ home. Then a church home was found. On September 6 1991 the Miracle Healing Temple moved to 8350 South Ashland. A ribbon cutting ceremony celebrated the event. The congregation entered their new home proclaiming “We’ve come this far by faith”. Reverend Sterling Edwards served faithfully. He was known for his compassion and commitment. When he could no longer serve as pastor Reverend James Branch took over as interim pastor. Sadly Reverend Edwards passed away on May 31 2012. His memory lives on at the Miracle Healing Temple. Reverend Branch was installed as the new pastor on January 27 2013. The Miracle Healing Temple continues to thrive today a testament to its founders’ faith and the enduring spirit of its community. The journey of the Miracle Healing Temple shows the power of faith and perseverance. It’s a story of growth from a humble beginning in a home to a thriving church. This vibrant community continues to spread its message of hope and healing. The Miracle Healing Temple is more than just a building. It is a living testament to the unwavering faith of its members.
