Lime kilns whisper stories of a bygone industrial age here at Kalkbrænderihavnen. This harbor is more than just a marina. It is a portal to Copenhagen’s maritime past. Kalkbrænderihavnen is named after the Old Lime Kiln from 1731. The New Lime Kiln from 1779 also lends its name. Both were built on promontories extending into the Øresund.

The harbor officially opened in 1895 alongside the Freeport. Kalkbrænderihavnen served as a storage area for coal and building materials. It also housed the North Harbour Shipyard. Later, parts of Kalkbrænderihavnen were filled. The Svanemølle Power Plant added a unique touch to the area in 1953.

Today, Kalkbrænderihavnen is a vibrant part of Nordhavn. It offers a blend of history and modern amenities. Sejlklubben København manages Kalkbrænderihavn. They lease it from By & Havn. The club has 250 berths on nine floating bridges. It is classified as an A-harbor.

Kalkbrænderihavnen is conveniently located near the Orientkaj metro station. The Nordhavn S-train station is also nearby. From there, it is only 13 minutes by train to Rådhuspladsen.

Getting around from Kalkbrænderihavnen is easy. It is an eight-minute walk to Nordhavn station. Buses and S-trains depart from there. You can reach Copenhagen Central Station in ten minutes by S-train. Tivoli, Strøget, Nyhavn, and the National Museum are easily accessible.

You can also take the S-train north to Klampenborg. There, you will find Dyrehavsbakken and Bellevue beach.
