Did the name Prins Henriks Skole ever make you wonder about its origins? Prins Henriks Skole, or the Lycee Français Prins Henrik as it’s also known, stands as a testament to a rich history. It’s more than just bricks and mortar. It’s a vibrant hub of international learning, nestled in the heart of Copenhagen. Originally, in 1954, a modest institution known as the “Little Embassy School” opened its doors. This was in association with the French Embassy on Dag Hammerskjolds Allé. A small seed that would blossom into the Prins Henriks Skole we know today. By 1963, a dedicated committee of French and Danish parents took the reins. The school relocated to Blegdamsvej, gaining independence in 1967. It officially became a self-owning institution. Prins Henriks Skole continued to grow, moving to Frederiksberg Allé in 1973 and then to its current location at Rolighedsvej 39 in 2023. The school adopted its current name in 1989. It was a tribute to Prince Henrik, the husband of Queen Margrethe II. He was a patron of the arts and a strong supporter of cultural exchange. Prins Henriks Skole boasts a diverse student body. Over 800 students from around 40 different nationalities attend the school, creating a melting pot of cultures and perspectives. The school, a member of the Agency for French Education Abroad (AEFE), provides a French curriculum. It prepares students for both French and Danish exams. This ensures graduates are well-equipped for higher education worldwide. Prins Henriks Skole offers education from preschool to high school, following the French system. It blends academic rigor with a nurturing environment. This allows students to thrive and achieve excellent results. The school’s commitment to multilingualism and multiculturalism is reflected in its diverse community. It offers a unique educational experience that fosters both personal and academic growth.
