Hidden in plain sight on Sandringham Road, the Wesley Chinese Methodist Mission Centre holds stories waiting to be discovered. The Wesley Chinese Methodist Mission Centre isn’t just a building. It’s a testament to the enduring spirit of a community. In 1993, the seeds of this community were sown when Reverend Siew approached St. Paul Methodist Church Remuera. He sought a space to nurture a burgeoning Chinese Methodist congregation in Auckland. This led to the official establishment of the first New Zealand Chinese Methodist Church, now known as the Auckland Chinese Methodist Church. The Wesley Chinese Methodist Mission Centre stands as part of this larger network, reflecting a vibrant history of growth and expansion. Over the years, this network extended its reach, establishing churches in Christchurch, Dunedin, Wellington, and beyond. The Mission Centre itself serves as a hub, connecting various preaching points and mission centres across the country. The Wesley Chinese Methodist Mission Centre is more than bricks and mortar.
