Imagine stepping back to 1998. The Philippines held its breath awaiting the completion of a new titan. It was a skyscraper that would redefine the Makati skyline. That skyscraper is the Petron Megaplaza.

Today we stand before this iconic building. The Petron Megaplaza is more than just steel and glass. It is a symbol of ambition and architectural prowess.

For two glorious years from 1998 to 2000 the Petron Megaplaza reigned supreme as the tallest in the Philippines. It stood unchallenged until the PBCom Tower finally surpassed it. Yet even today the Petron Megaplaza commands respect with its impressive height of 210 meters. It has 45 stories above ground and five below.

Megaworld Corporation one of the country’s largest real estate firms developed Petron Megaplaza. The name ‘Mega’ reflects their significant involvement and ownership. Skidmore Owings & Merrill designed the building. Aromin + Sy & Associates completed the structural design in cooperation with Ove Arup & Partners. D.M. Consunji Inc. handled the construction.

The Petron Megaplaza strategically rises on Gil Puyat Avenue near Makati Avenue. This puts it at the heart of Makati’s Central Business District. Its location places it near major hotels offices and entertainment spots.

From 1998 to 2010 Petron Corporation was the main tenant. However the Petron Megaplaza also houses other prominent corporations. Cemex Philippines Procter & Gamble Asia and the Norwegian embassy are among its esteemed occupants.

Think about the countless deals struck. Imagine the innovative ideas conceived within these walls. The Petron Megaplaza has been a hub of commerce and international relations.

Consider how the Petron Megaplaza has evolved with Makati. It is a testament to the city’s economic growth and architectural innovation. It continues to inspire awe and admiration.

As our tour concludes remember the Petron Megaplaza’s story. It once held the title of the Philippines’ tallest building. It continues to stand as a landmark. It signifies the country’s journey towards progress.
