Enchanted by a whimsical dream, Bruno Torfs, a South American artist, sought a haven to bring his vision to life. He found it in Marysville, a Victorian village near Melbourne, Australia. There, Bruno’s Art and Sculpture Garden was born. Bruno’s Art and Sculpture Garden started with just fifteen life-sized terra cotta figures nestled among the sub-alpine forests. A gallery displayed his smaller paintings, sketches, and sculptures collected from his travels across Europe. Tragedy struck in 2009 when devastating fires swept through the area. Bruno’s home and gallery were destroyed, but miraculously, the sculptures survived. Today, Bruno’s Art and Sculpture Garden has risen from the ashes, with a new gallery and over 115 sculptures scattered throughout the lush rainforest. Bruno’s whimsical creations, handcrafted from clay and fired in his onsite kiln, invite you to explore a world of fantasy. Seek out the 27 mice hidden on Mouseman. Marvel at the sleeping bat crafted entirely from forks. The garden paths wind through native and exotic trees, their leaves turning golden in autumn. Bruno’s Art and Sculpture Garden is a testament to the resilience of art and the power of imagination, a place where fantasy meets reality just 95 kilometers from Melbourne.
