Let’s step inside Gordonbrock Primary School. This school is a bustling center of learning, but you may not know that it used to be a private school. When it opened in 1902 it was one of the first schools in Lewisham to educate children on a co-educational basis. For a small amount of time, it was a public school, but that’s when Gordonbrock Primary School went through some dramatic changes. It was not very popular at the time and was closed in the 1950s. The old building, now part of a modern primary school, became, for a while, a hub for youth clubs, with the community using it as a social space. However, this situation couldn’t persist forever, and the building was neglected and even became unsafe. Fortunately, the community decided to change its fate. In 1971 the building was renovated, and the school that we see today was born. Now, Gordonbrock Primary School is a vibrant, caring, and thriving center of learning that is committed to enriching the lives of the children in the community.
