Founded in 1935, Staines Preparatory School stands as a beacon of education. It has been shaping young minds for over 80 years. The school is located in the Knowle Green area of Staines. It is a co-educational independent day school. Staines Preparatory School serves boys and girls aged 3 to 11.

The school’s story began with Mr. and Mrs. Burges. They established it as a boys-only school. Soon girls were admitted so siblings could learn together. Staines Prep became the longest-standing co-educational independent school in the area.

Imagine eleven pupils gathered at No. 1 Gresham Road on May 8, 1935. Among them was John Braithwaite. He attended Staines Preparatory School from 1935 to 1940.

Staines Preparatory School comprises three substantial brick-built houses. These include the Burges Wing and the Jubilee Wing.

In 2002, Staines Preparatory School was accredited. It became a member of IAPS. IAPS ensures high standards. It does this through regular inspections. It also provides staff training and advice.

John Braithwaite was the first Staines Preparatory School boy to score a fifty. Other ex-Staines Preparatory School cricketers include Tim Bloomfield and Richard Hall.
