Beneath a Jakarta sky, Masjid Jami Attaqwa stands as a testament to time. Have you ever seen a mosque called also Masjid Senayan? This house of worship has a rich history, dating back to 1920. It began on land donated by H Yusuf bin Gede Ali.

Originally, the land was only 750 square meters. In 1952, the government relocated and rebuilt the mosque. It then occupied 1260 square meters. Over time, Masjid Jami Attaqwa Sriwijaya expanded. Today, the building covers 2,173 square meters. The land area spans 3,000 square meters. This includes a multipurpose hall of 1,000 square meters.

Masjid Jami Attaqwa is managed by the Yayasan Masjid Jami Attaqwa Sriwijaya. H Abdul Aziz Marzuki oversaw the mosque. He was also the grandson of H Yusuf bin Gede Ali.

Many expansions have occurred since its founding. The first stone was laid in 1989. KH Masykur and KH M Natsir oversaw the event. Many religious leaders witnessed this milestone. In 1992, Vice President H Soedharmono inaugurated the completed mosque.

Masjid Jami Attaqwa’s architecture reflects the Rukun Iman. The building features a six-sided design, aligning with Islamic principles. Solid wood carvings adorn the doors and windows. These showcase beautiful calligraphy. This blends traditional and modern elements.

Located on Jalan Sriwijaya Raya, Masjid Jami Attaqwa is strategically placed. It sits amid Jakarta’s business district. Executives often visit for prayer. Some seek a moment of rest. The area is lush providing a comfortable atmosphere. A tall minaret rises in front of the mosque.

The mosque’s location is convenient. It offers a peaceful retreat from city life. The cool breeze and shade make it inviting. The strategic position allows it to serve many.

The late Abdul Aziz Marzuki, father-in-law of Sandiaga Uno, had close ties to this mosque. Before his death, he requested to be buried here. His family members are also buried in the mosque’s grounds. This wish highlights his deep connection to Masjid Attaqwa Sriwijaya. Even former Vice President Ma’ruf Amin has preached here.

Masjid Jami Attaqwa is evolving too. There are plans for an Artificial Intelligence center. It will be based on sharia principles. This aims to attract younger people. The goal is to blend faith with modern technology. Masjid Jami Attaqwa strives to stay relevant. It balances tradition with progress.
