A sanctuary of faith for almost 150 years. That’s what you’ll find here at Midway Baptist Church. Right here, in the heart of Dallas, stands a testament to faith and community. Midway Baptist Church has been a beacon of hope since its founding in 1872. The church’s origins are deeply intertwined with the local community. The founding pastor was actually a student from nearby Georgetown College. This tradition of young leadership continued throughout the years, with many leaders being college students or young adults. What’s truly remarkable is that Midway Baptist Church has stood on this very site since its inception. Imagine the stories these walls could tell. Did you know that the first building debt was a mere $150? And that they managed to pay it off in just four short years! This speaks volumes about the dedication and generosity of those early members. Midway Baptist Church has always had a heart for missions. In 1889, they partnered with another church to send the first Baptist Missionary to Japan. A beautiful vase, gifted by the missionary upon their return, still stands in the overflow room as a reminder of their commitment to spreading the Gospel. Over the years, Midway Baptist Church has undergone several renovations and expansions. They built an educational building in 1950 and a new Ministry Center in 2004. Through it all, the church has remained a steadfast presence in the community. A place where faith and fellowship intertwine.
