Envision a small town, where time seems to slow down. This is Bolinda, Victoria, home to Bolinda Primary School. Bolinda Primary School isn’t just any school. It’s a cornerstone of this community, established way back in 1870. Originally known as Bolinda Common School, it replaced the older Bolinda Vale school. Imagine children in the late 1800s attending classes in a charming building made of American pine timber, complete with a shingle roof and an attached teacher’s residence. Bolinda Primary School transitioned to a state school sometime between 1873 and 1878, a testament to the growing importance of education in the area. The school grounds expanded in 1882, gaining an extra acre to accommodate its growing student body. By 1900, forty-six students filled its classrooms. A new teacher’s residence was built in 1911, reflecting the school’s continued growth. At that time, forty-eight students called Bolinda Primary their educational home. The school, renamed Bolinda Primary School in 1970, continues to serve the community today. It stands as a symbol of the town’s history and its commitment to education. Bolinda Primary School remains a vital part of Bolinda, nurturing young minds and shaping the future of this close-knit community.
