The residents of Maine Park and the nearby Park Ridge Park District voted to merge. Maine Park became part of the Park Ridge Park District in 1954. The park district initially leased the building from School District 64. They later purchased it to offer more space for programs, a preschool, and their staff. The Maine Park Leisure Center underwent a significant renovation in 2017. The renovation modernized the facility and provided new classrooms, better mechanical systems, and more restrooms. Today, the Maine Park Leisure Center is a hub of activity.
