Founded in 1968 the Harvester Baptist Church stands proudly in Singapore. It began humbly in an apartment. Cliff and Eloise Hunnicutt the founders arrived from India. Their congregation quickly outgrew their small apartment. They envisioned a larger space. Their dream was the New Country Hotel building. The hotel occupied the site from the 1950s to the 1970s. In 1977 the Hunnicutts finally purchased the building. The hotel’s dance floor became a place of worship. Harvester Baptist Church expanded its reach. It served people from Myanmar Thailand the Philippines and China.

The church’s architecture is unique. It blends neo-classical elements with modern design. Fair-faced brick walls and metal grills enclose the lush grounds. Tuscan columns and stylized windows adorn the pale yellow ochre facade. The Jerkinhead roof shelters the front porch. A cantilevered flat roof covers the annexes. Cliff Hunnicutt’s legacy lives on. He played a key role in training local pastors and evangelists. His funeral service was held at Harvester Baptist Church in 2018.
