“A humble house of prayer,” whispered a voice, drawing our attention to Musholla Al-Ikhlas. Musholla Al-Ikhlas stands as a testament to the devotion of the local community. It’s a place where whispers of prayer mingle with the city’s hum.

Let’s step back in time to 1967. A group of individuals from various housing complexes in Cipete, Jakarta, gathered with a shared vision. They dreamed of a mosque, a central hub for Islamic faith and teachings. These complexes included PDK, Kehakiman, Sekneg, Panca Niaga, Perdatam, Indomarin, Hasta Griya, and BDN. Their dream began to solidify. Through tireless door-to-door efforts, they rallied the community. Their dedication resonated with the people of Cipete, sparking enthusiasm for the project. One resident, H.D. Dachlan, recalled their unwavering commitment. Another resident, H.MA. Husein, shared that the idea for Musholla Al-Ikhlas emerged during Ramadan prayers held in rotation at different homes.

Nine years later, the vision materialized. Between 1976 and 1979, Musholla Al-Ikhlas, initially envisioned as a prayer space, evolved into Masjid Al Ikhlas. This transformation was made possible by the contributions of generous donors, zakat payers, and the dedicated congregation. Buya H. Amirudin Siregar led the effort as Chairman of the YMAI (Al Ikhlas Mosque Foundation) from 1975 to 1987. The foundation itself, YMAI, was established on April 11, 1967. The official record is documented in notary R. Soerojo Wongsowidjojo’s deed number 24, dated July 31, 1967.

The foundation’s journey involved several amendments, culminating in notary Ny. Nur Sasono’s deed number 04 on July 30, 2004. The YMAI bylaws were finalized during the Board of Trustees meeting on September 9, 2007. While the Masjid Al Ikhlas is not the Musholla Al-Ikhlas we stand before today, the story of the foundation’s dedication provides context for the spirit of community prayer in this area. Musholla Al-Ikhlas, in its simplicity and accessibility, continues to serve as a vital space for prayer and reflection within the vibrant city. Its story is a reminder of the power of shared vision and dedicated effort in creating a place of worship.
