Here it stands Haus F. The extremely narrow and steep property was considered unfit for construction. But here it is.

Let’s explore the daring and extremely individualistic Haus F. The architects demonstrated that it was possible to build here. Their proposal measured only 4.70 x 14 meters. They created an attractive and iconic building. Its long slimline shape is inserted perfectly between its neighbors.

Haus F presents a contrast between structure and shell. Open and closed transparent and translucent surfaces shape the interior. This creates a fascinating space with varying degrees of light and dark.

Completed in 2008 Haus F covers an area of 300 square meters. The Ippolito Fleitz Group designed the interior. Bruno Helbling captured its essence through photographs.

The facade of Haus F is plastered smooth grey. The tiled roof continues this color. The building appears to be of one piece. Gutters and down pipes have been concealed to keep it simple. Anthracite colored aluminum framed windows sit flush with the facade. Modeled on Swiss design they create a smooth homogenous appearance.

Cooking eating and living areas flow into one. There is no interruption from supports or walls. The stairs form the core of the main living area. They connect the three floors and various living areas. The kitchen faces the garden. It opens onto the dining and living room. Adjacent is a utility room.

The large windows open up the massive building. Initially it seems quite closed. They allow views in and out from every aspect. Projecting parts of the building bring rhythm to the facade. Windows and garage create playful elements in the severe architecture. The projecting glass structure provides the living room with generous space. It does not increase the total area of the house. Therefore it does not increase the building costs.

Embedded in a gentle hilly landscape Haus F complements an existing ensemble. The adopted building configuration reflects the site. It has open angles and two intersecting saddle roofs.

Completely closed toward the street the interior is generously glazed. The central living and dining area opens to the impressive natural landscape. The spatial transition continues smoothly through a terrace. This terrace is laid out on several levels. It includes a partially sheltered front area.

Each room offers a variety of visual connections. These connections extend internally as well as to the surrounding nature. Inside the intersection of the roof is tangible. The overall height of the rooms can be felt. Tall the chosen materials white walls and polished screed are restrained. Thus they emphasize the particular geometry of Haus F.

The outer skin of the constructive timber frame building consists of a wooden lamella facade. It is drawn over the saddle roof. The chosen bar depth gives the facade a plastic appearance. From different perspectives its appearance changes.

Haus F received special mention at the German Design Award. It was recognized for excellent communications design in architecture. The client was a private individual.

The view from the L shaped panoramic window attracts everyone’s attention. It looks over the 900 year old village of Denkendorf. The abbey sits in the center. The heated window ledge of fair faced concrete is therefore the most popular seat in the house. Haus F is clearly defined. Its form and material are minimalist. The trapeze shaped three floor premise may appear cool at first glance.

Haus F stands as a testament to innovative design. It transforms a challenging plot into an attractive iconic structure. Its thoughtful design and integration with the landscape make it a remarkable place.
