“Loshen horo is dangerous!” Imagine those words echoing within the walls of Beis Medrash Beis Shmuel- Reb Chunas. This is a place where tradition meets community. We are standing before a keystone of the Golders Green Frum community.

Beis Medrash Beis Shmuel is affectionately known as Reb Chuna’s. It is more than just a shul. It is a place of coming together. It is a place of achdus.

Rav Elchonon Halpern, or Reb Chuna, faithfully led this kehilla for over 70 years. His influence extended far beyond these walls. He was a respected figure in the Charedi community.

In 2015, the death of Rav Halpern marked the end of an era for some. He was a pillar. He was president of the Union of Orthodox Hebrew Congregations.

His son, Moshe, succeeded him in leading Beis Medrash Beis Shmuel- Reb Chunas. Another son, Chaim, was also a charismatic figure.

Lag Baomer celebrations here are vibrant. Pictures capture the spirit of joy and unity within Beis Hamedrash Beis Shmuel. The community gathers. They celebrate together.

Tragedy struck when two young boys from London Shuls passed away. The Bodner family were members of Beis Shmuel. In the face of this double tragedy, the community united. An unbelievable achdus emerged. Shmira was organized. Help poured in from all over.

Rav Elchonon Halpern stressed the dangers of the internet. He warned against spreading loshon horo. His words resonated deeply.

Reb Chuna had deep connections with many Admorim. He considered himself a talmid of Rav Itzikel of Pshevorsk.

Rav Chuna’s impact extended to younger generations. Rabbi Gerzi spent much time with him. He learned the importance of kedusha and tahara. He gained a deep appreciation for his yichus.

Beis Medrash Beis Shmuel- Reb Chunas continues to be a place of Torah and tradition. It stands as a testament to the enduring spirit of the Frum community in Golders Green. It is a place where memory is cherished. It is a place where community bonds are strengthened.
