Twenty years ago a dream took flight. The Vehículo Espacial Nueva Generación VENG was born. This Argentinian aerospace company aimed high. Its goal was to develop a new generation of space vehicles. It was a bold ambition. Argentina had a history in space exploration. In the 1970s it attempted to develop the Cóndor II space shuttle. However that project proved too ambitious. It was eventually shelved.

VENG’s journey wasn’t easy. Initial funding was scarce. The company spent its early years in theoretical studies. There was a period of exploration and feasibility studies. It investigated the possibility of private investment. This proved unsuccessful.

Then in 2007 a breakthrough. CONAE and VENG signed a contract. State funding finally arrived. VENG began working on the Tronador program. The Tronador 1 was launched. This marked a milestone for Argentina. It was the first domestically developed liquid-propellant rocket. Successes followed. VENG contributed to satellites like SAC-D/Aquarius and SAOCOM. They also designed and operated the Tierra del Fuego ground station.

However the road wasn’t without setbacks. The VEx-1A prototype launch failed. A problem with the launch system caused the failure. The VEx-5 launch also faced issues. A kerosene leak caused a fire. The rocket fell back to earth.

Despite these challenges VENG persevered. It worked with international partners. It signed an agreement with KSAT AS. This secured access to a ground station in Tierra del Fuego. VENG played a role in launching the SAOCOM 1A satellite.

Today VENG continues its important work. Its impact on Argentina’s aerospace industry is undeniable. The company’s journey exemplifies ambition. It shows the dedication required to achieve space exploration goals. VENG’s story continues to unfold. It represents Argentina’s enduring commitment to exploring the cosmos.
