In 1858, the vast Richard Vitton estate, a sprawling 78 hectares, began its transformation. This marked the birth of the neighborhood around Rue Louise, as plots were carved out for development. Rue Louise itself stands as a testament to this legacy. It’s named after Louise Françoise Richard Vitton, the woman who not only donated the land for the street but also founded the prominent Richard Vitton family. Now, let’s explore Rue Louise. It begins at Place Louise, intersecting with Rue Julie. From there, it stretches southward, crossing Rue du Capitaine, Rue du Docteur Long, and Rue du Château before finally meeting Rue Ferdinand Buisson. Rue Louise showcases a mix of architectural styles, reflecting its evolving history. The western section is quite modern. It features a striking two-story, white-and-salmon-colored building, soon to be accompanied by two individual houses. Across the street, a more traditional row of buildings stands, comprising a workshop and four single-story houses. Further down Rue Louise, the architectural landscape becomes more eclectic. A blend of houses, workshops, a peaceful garden, and an apartment building creates a unique charm. Notice the spot where Rue Louise meets Rue du Capitaine. A garage once occupied this corner until 2016 when a new apartment building took its place. As we continue, Rue Louise runs alongside the two-story structure of Collège Molière. This school faces a mix of buildings: two apartment structures and a standalone house. Look closely at number 19. Its three rounded balconies and a distinctive porthole window set it apart. Finally, Rue Louise passes between two older houses. One of these houses is home to the Pastry Makers’ Union. Three delightful murals, painted in 2000, adorn the wall. They depict children gleefully enjoying pastries, a tribute to the union’s sweet legacy. Just beyond, the modern two-story buildings, constructed around the year 2000, mark the end of Rue Louise at its intersection with Rue Ferdinand Buisson.
