The College of North West London first sprouted from humble roots. Its story began with the Willesden Polytechnic in Kilburn in 1891. Imagine the bustling classrooms filled with eager minds. They sought knowledge and skills for a rapidly changing world. The Willesden committee for technical education organized classes in Willesden Town Hall from 1893.

In 1896, Middlesex County Council acquired the St. Lawrence Institute. By 1898, the Willesden Polytechnic was officially formed. It had 1571 students. A new building opened in 1904 on Glengall Road Kilburn. World War I impacted the male working-class population. The polytechnic offered light woodwork courses for women in 1917. They made aeroplane components.

In 1934, the polytechnic split. Kilburn Polytechnic remained on the original site. The new Willesden College of Technology opened. The original St. Lawrence Institute building was demolished by 1934. A new four-story block replaced it.

The sites merged in 1991. The College of North West London was born. In 2017, it merged with City of Westminster College. Together they formed the United Colleges Group. Both colleges still use their original names.

Today, the College of North West London offers many courses. These range from entry-level to foundation degrees. They also offer apprenticeships and HNC HNDs. The college has facilities for enrolled students. Its Hair and Beauty Salons are open to the public at the Wembley Campus.

The main center of the College of North West London is the Willesden Campus. It developed in 1934 as the Willesden College of Technology. The entrance is now on Denzil Road. It provides training facilities for the Faculty of Technology.

The Wembley Park campus opened in September 1995. It is located at Crescent House near Wembley Park Underground station. Teaching includes English, Maths, ESOL, Business, Accounting, and hair and beauty. Gino D’Acampo reopened the refurbished building in November 2012.

Since Summer 2016, the College of North West London has managed the King’s Cross Construction Skills Centre. This partnership with Camden Council provides construction sector training. It is available for full-time and part-time students. Apprentices can also train here.

The College of North West London celebrated 130 years of learning in Brent. A celebratory dinner and prize-giving event marked the occasion.
