In February 1975, a group of individuals gathered at the Marriott Inn on LBJ Freeway in Dallas. What brought them together? They were the founding members of the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship North, the precursor to the Community Unitarian Universalist Church. The Community Unitarian Universalist Church’s journey began with this humble gathering of sixty-five souls seeking a spiritual home. The church’s journey over the next three decades was marked by change and growth. They experienced shifts in identity with two name changes and adapted to different locations, holding services in six different places. Through it all, the Community Unitarian Universalist Church thrived, led by a succession of dedicated ministers who nurtured their spiritual growth. The church’s story reflects the dynamism of a living tradition. By 1998, the congregation had outgrown its space. They found a new home on Parker Road, marking a significant milestone. This move coincided with another name change, and they became known as the Community Unitarian Universalist Church of Plano. This marked the beginning of a new chapter in their history, a chapter that continues to unfold to this day.
