Abdulazize honed his craft, dreaming of a business built on the beauty of Ethiopian beads. He faced initial setbacks. Centrelink advised him to find a job instead of pursuing his passion. Undeterred, Abdulazize worked in the meat industry, saved, and returned to his dream. Konjo African craft became a reality. The shop is filled with jewelry crafted from glass beads, silver, amber, coral, and more, all sourced from Ethiopian markets. Abdulazize, recognizing a longing for home among fellow Ethiopians, expanded Konjo African craft to include traditional crafts. Chopping boards, headrests, plates, and chairs representing Ethiopia’s 84 tribes fill the space, offering a piece of home to those far away. The story of Konjo African craft doesn’t end there. The demand for authentic Ethiopian food led Abdulazize to open Konjo cafe. Here, he serves traditional dishes, including his signature Kitfo, raw topside meat infused with spices and chili.
