It’s a story of resistance and sacrifice during World War II. Impasse Paul Armangot is named after Paul Armangot a courageous member of the French Resistance.

Paul Armangot was born on July 25 1908. He was a pavement worker. He lived at 11 rue Mansart in Vitry-sur-Seine. Paul was a vital part of the FTPF. The FTPF was the French Forces of the Interior. This group fought against the German occupation.

He was an active resistance fighter from 1941 to 1944. Paul organized resistance in his community. He was a lieutenant in the FTPF. He helped distribute food to those in need. It was during this act of kindness that tragedy struck. On August 21 1944 Paul and his group were arrested.

They were executed that same day. They were shot in front of the wall of the departmental school. The school is now the Lycée Adolphe Chérioux. Paul was buried in the military section of the Vitry cemetery. He was only 36.
