Tucked away in the heart of Pinner, Reddiford School has been a beacon of learning since 1913. It’s hard to believe that this vibrant institution, now bustling with over 200 students, started with just five pupils. Reddiford School was founded by two brothers, William and Harold White, along with their mother. They named it after a “reedy ford” near their family home in Dartmoor. It’s quite a journey from a tranquil Dartmoor stream to the lively streets of Pinner. The school’s original location was right here in Cecil Park. The youngest White sibling, Emmeline Mary White, later became Headmistress. Under her guidance, Reddiford School flourished. The growing student body even led to the purchase of the neighboring house in 1935, adding five more classrooms. Another classroom was later built in the garden. Reddiford School still maintains its Church of England affiliation. However, it welcomes children of all faiths and cultures, emphasizing respect for everyone. It prides itself on being a local fixture, just a short walk from public transportation. Reddiford School offers a comprehensive education for children aged 2 to 11. It covers Early Years, Pre-Prep, and Prep. The fees vary per term, depending on the year group. Early Years is £4,250, Pre-Prep/Reception is £4,600, and Prep is £4,950. The school focuses on developing well-rounded individuals, providing a strong academic foundation. Reddiford School has a history of preparing students for entrance exams at 11+. Many students gain entry to top independent schools and local grammar schools, often with scholarships. Small class sizes and a high teacher-to-pupil ratio create a caring environment where every child feels valued. From its humble beginnings with five students to its current thriving community, Reddiford School has remained a cornerstone of education in Pinner. Its commitment to academic excellence, along with a nurturing atmosphere, continues to shape young minds and prepare them for the future.
