Envision a carousel, not just any carousel, but the Carrousel Siglo XVIII. Its classical music echoes like a nostalgic whisper from yesteryear. You can visit it near the lake and the bars along the Plazoleta de la Shoá.

The Carrousel Siglo XVIII wasn’t always here. Its initial home was the Paseo de la Infanta in Palermo. Then, in 2006, destiny led it to Ituzaingó. The Geddo family won a spot in the main square. They continued the carrousel’s story in the west of Buenos Aires.

Fernando Geddo explained its construction was revolutionary. His father drew inspiration from European carousels like those in Paris and Italy. The family had years of experience crafting amusement rides. They built the Carrousel Siglo XVIII from scratch. Sculptors shaped figures from plaster. These were then replicated in fiberglass and wood. Every part of the carrousel was manufactured in Ituzaingó.

Geddo also created all the operating systems, lighting, security features, and sound. Original music recorded from a 1905 Wurlitzer organ filled the air. The inaugural ride of this two-story carousel occurred in Castelar. It was in the Geddo family’s backyard.

Fernando Geddo shared that his father dreamed of having a carrousel in Ituzaingó. After his father’s death in 2005, fate intervened. In 2006, he was offered a chance to place a carrousel in the square. They won the contest and installed the Carrousel Siglo XVIII in November.

The Carrousel Siglo XVIII is more than entertainment. It is a cultural icon. Graciela Mosches enhanced the Carrousel Siglo XVIII in 2019. The artwork displayed images of Ituzaingó. These included the old and new trains.

The Carrousel Siglo XVIII keeps spinning almost all the time. Geddo feels proud of this carrousel. He states that it is unique. The Carrousel Siglo XVIII was made by an Argentine family in Ituzaingó.
