A clever solution was needed to create an uninterrupted column-free space for worship. Traditionally four interior wood columns would support the upper roof. To achieve a clear view of the mihrab these columns were removed. This required a steel frame for the double roof. The use of modern technology is cleverly concealed. Wood strips and sheathing hide the steel inside. Clay tiles mask it outside.
