“Have you ever felt the pulse of a community so strong, it resonates in every brick and beam?” That’s the feeling you get standing before Masjid Jami Nurul Bahri. This isn’t just a mosque. It’s the heart of Pulau Sebira’s RT 03/03 community in the Kepulauan Seribu Utara.
Masjid Jami Nurul Bahri stands as the sole mosque on Pulau Sebira. It is a vital center for the island’s residents. Imagine this space bustling with activity from the early hours. Since 2014, this mosque has been a pillar.
The activities begin long before dawn. At 3:00 AM, the community awakens to the call for Sahur during Ramadan. Masjid Jami Nurul Bahri takes on the role of a gentle alarm clock.
Spanning 792 square meters the mosque accommodates around 350 people. The prayer hall buzzes with devotion throughout the day. Regular prayers mark the rhythm of life. Ramadan brings special observances such as communal iftar.
Fajar Febriansyah is the Secretary of the mosque. He helps to organize Tarawih prayers. There are also insightful studies after Subuh, Dzuhur and Isha. The air is filled with the rhythmic recitation during the Tadarus Al-Qur’an. It continues late into the night. The last ten nights of Ramadan see dedicated worshippers engaging in Itikaf. They seek spiritual seclusion.
After the Ashar prayer, people gather for Ngabuburit. They read Fadhilah Amal. It is a guide for preachers. As Maghrib approaches, the mosque prepares a modest Iftar. This is a simple breaking of the fast.
Approximately 50 takjil portions are prepared each day. The food is simple but fulfilling. The community contributes generously. Around ten people deliver food to the mosque daily.
The takjil offerings vary. There is es buah, gorengan, kurma, and kolak pisang. Brongko, jus buah and mineral water are also provided.
