Considering a court where echoes of cheers mix with the squeak of shoes? That’s BJK Akatlar Arena. It is not just a building. It is a landmark in Istanbul’s sporting and cultural scene.

The Istanbul Municipality recognized its importance early on. It handed the rights to Beşiktaş J.K. after its construction in 2004. Since then, the BJK Akatlar Arena has become synonymous with Beşiktaş basketball and volleyball.

But the arena is more than just a sporting venue. Its versatility allows it to host various events. Concerts often fill its halls with music. The BJK Akatlar Arena can hold up to 4500 people for concerts.

Imagine the roar of the crowd as Beşiktaş Basketball takes to the court. The arena has a capacity of 3200 for basketball games. It creates an intimate yet electrifying atmosphere. Bahçeşehir Koleji also calls this arena home. This adds to the vibrant sporting culture.

The BJK Akatlar Arena complex extends beyond the main hall. It spans 45 dunams of land. This includes six tennis courts and four synthetic pitches. A covered car park offers convenience. An indoor swimming pool and fitness center cater to athletes and visitors alike. There is even Turkey’s largest bowling club. You can also find a shopping center and several restaurants. All these facilities cover approximately 8500 square meters.

For spectators, the BJK Akatlar Arena provides a comfortable experience. A 120 square meter cafeteria offers refreshments. Five buffets serve visitors during matches and exhibitions. VIP resting rooms and lodges accommodate up to 80 people.

The arena ensures accessibility and safety. Seven entrances are available including one for VIPs. There are separate entrances for visiting team supporters. Fire hazard precautions are complete with a backup generator.

During summer, a terrace offers a relaxing space. Four locker rooms allow for consecutive matches. Each locker room has ten showers three urinals private wardrobes and massage rooms. There are also four locker rooms for referees.

The BJK Akatlar Arena has hosted notable concerts. Incubus rocked the stage in March 2007. Roger Hodgson performed in October 2007. Nana Mouskouri serenaded the audience in November 2007.

In 2013 the arena’s name changed temporarily. It became Beşiktaş Integral Forex Arena. This was due to a sponsorship agreement with Integral Forex. Once the agreement ended it reverted to BJK Akatlar Arena. In 2022 it was renamed Beşiktaş Emlakjet Spor Kompleksi. As of June 2024 it is known as BJK Fibabanka Spor Kompleksi.

So next time you pass by take a moment. Think of the athletes the concerts and the community. The BJK Akatlar Arena stands as a testament to Istanbul’s dynamic spirit.
