Fifth Third Arena

From a dream to a reality. That’s the story of Fifth Third Arena. It began on July 29, 2015, when the Chicago Blackhawks announced their ambitious plan. They envisioned a massive community training center. It would serve as a hub for youth hockey development, recreational leagues, and other events. Of course, it would also be the official practice facility for the Blackhawks and visiting NHL teams. Fifth Third Arena materialized on November 21, 2017. The 125,000-square-foot facility stands proudly two blocks south of the United Center in Chicago. Fifth Third Arena caters to the Blackhawks’ needs with specialized features. These include equipment storage, training rooms, a player’s lounge, and a state-of-the-art weight room. There’s even an exhaust system behind the locker room. This system quickly dries uniforms and equipment, minimizing odor. A skills studio allows players to hone their shooting, passing, and stickhandling. Fifth Third Arena is more than just a practice facility. It’s a community asset. The arena offers public skating, community programs, and beginner hockey classes. It hosts adult hockey leagues, youth and high school hockey clubs, elite tournaments, and fundraising events. Fifth Third Arena boasts two NHL-size ice rinks and two multipurpose rooms overlooking the ice. It also features a media room, an executive hockey operations suite, and a rooftop deck built on a green roof. Visitors can enjoy a variety of amenities. These include skate rentals, private and public locker rooms, a skills training room, and a full-service fitness center. A full-service bar, concession stand, coffee and donut shop, and healthy vending options round out the offerings. Fifth Third Arena truly offers something for everyone.
