The Diana Statue, a poignant tribute to the beloved Princess of Wales, stands in the Sunken Garden at Kensington Palace. The bronze sculpture, unveiled in 2021, depicts a majestic Diana surrounded by three children, symbolizing her dedication to charitable work and her profound connection to young people. It was commissioned by her sons, Princes William and Harry, to mark the 20th anniversary of her passing. The statue was designed by Ian Rank-Broadley, the sculptor behind the image of the late Queen Elizabeth II on British coinage.

The choice of the Sunken Garden as the location for the statue was deliberate. Diana often spent time in this tranquil space with her sons, sharing memorable moments. The garden, designed by Pip Morrison, boasts a stunning floral display with over 4,000 flowers, including forget-me-nots, Diana’s favourite flower. At the foot of the statue, a paving stone bears an inscription from the anonymously authored poem, “The Measure of a Man,” which was also used in the memorial service for Princess Diana in 2007.

The statue of Diana is a powerful reminder of her enduring legacy. Though her life was tragically cut short, her compassion and dedication to humanitarian causes continue to inspire people around the world. The statue stands as a testament to her impact on the world, and it is a place where her spirit lives on.
