How did a small gathering transform into As Sakinah Foundation? It stands as a testament to community, education, and the enduring power of compassion.

As Sakinah Foundation started humbly. It began in 2005 as a small group. They gathered street children and kids from low-income families in Bambu Apus. Bambu Apus is a small village in Pamulang, Tangerang. It is about two hours from Jakarta.

The foundation’s name carries deep meaning. “As Sakinah” is Arabic for peace and serenity. Initially, it was known as Rumah Tahfizh As Sakinah. Rumah Tahfizh means “house to memorize Qur’an”. The name reflects its early focus.

The gatherings evolved beyond Qur’an classes. They became a way to support the community. They checked on children. They ensured access to education and healthcare.

Today, As Sakinah Foundation does much more. It provides educational and nutritional aid. Over 650 underprivileged children benefit from its programs. They offer education funds. These funds support children unable to attend school. As Sakinah has expanded its reach. It now includes a kindergarten, primary school, and junior high school. Their curricula focus on entrepreneurial skills.

Lisma Gaus founded As Sakinah Foundation. She was raised by a single mother. Her mother worked hard to support 11 children. Lisma became a public auditor. She found a village behind her neighborhood. Many families lived in poverty. They lived in cardboard houses.

Driven by this discovery, she acted. She started As Sakinah Foundation. It started as a simple effort. It grew into a multifaceted organization. It addresses the needs of underprivileged children.

Volunteers are welcome at As Sakinah Foundation. People of all ages and nationalities can contribute. They assist with programs. They bring new experiences to the children. Volunteers can help with English classes. They can share their culture and country. No time commitment is required. Every moment spent with the children makes a difference.

As Sakinah also offers a homestay program. This allows for deeper community involvement. Volunteers live in the neighborhood. They participate in daily activities. They develop lessons and activities. They join field trips with the children.

The foundation is open to new ideas. Volunteers can organize projects. They can fundraise for the children. As Sakinah welcomes every creative idea. The children are always eager to meet new people and make friends.

As Sakinah Foundation embodies Jakarta’s spirit. Jakarta is a gateway to diverse cultures and adventures. As Sakinah provides hope. It creates opportunities for children in need.
