North Hennepin Community College

Founded in the thick of the 1960s, North Hennepin Community College wasn’t always the sprawling hub of learning it is today. Imagine, if you will, the year is 1966. The Beatles are topping the charts, bell bottoms are all the rage, and North Hennepin Community College opens its doors for the first time. The college, still finding its footing, starts its journey humbly, borrowing space from the former Osseo Junior High School in Osseo. It wasn’t until a few years later, in 1969, that the college would move to its current location here in Brooklyn Park. Despite its modest beginnings, North Hennepin Community College quickly made a name for itself. Over the years, it’s grown to become a beacon of opportunity, drawing students from all walks of life with promises of a quality, affordable education. And if these walls could talk, oh, the stories they could tell! Did you know, for instance, that a certain former Governor of Minnesota, Jesse Ventura, once walked these very halls? That’s right, before he was gracing our screens and shaking things up in politics, he was a student right here at North Hennepin Community College. Today, North Hennepin Community College stands as a testament to the power of education and a vibrant community. It continues to be a place where dreams are nurtured, potential is realized, and lives are forever changed.
