It’s a collaborative innovation platform, a vibrant hub for the chemistry and environment sector. Established in 2011, Axel’One is dedicated to pushing the boundaries of smart processes and innovative materials. Axel’One plays a crucial role in fostering collaboration and driving innovation. It hosts around 20 small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and supports approximately 60 collaborative projects, involving over 250 people on the platform. This generates about 8 million euros in turnover. Axel’One offers access to cutting-edge shared tools and resources worth 50 million euros. These resources span a wide range of research and development stages, from basic research to pre-industrial phases. The platform’s activities support a variety of industries. These include chemical, pharmaceutical, textile, composite, recycling, water treatment, health, and energy sectors. Axel’One operates across three different sites, totaling 9000 square meters. Axel’One has also actively participated in European research projects. It contributed to three H2020 projects focused on catalyst upscaling. For one of these projects, Axel’One even served as a work package leader. Currently, Axel’One is coordinating the Horizon Europe project SOLSTICE. This project focuses on developing a circular economy for textiles. Axel’One actively engages with the broader industrial ecosystem through its membership in various clusters. It’s a member of the French chemistry and environment cluster (Axelera), the textile cluster (Techtera), and the plastics and composite cluster (Polymeris). Additionally, Axel’One is recognized by the European Pilot Plant Network (EPPN). Axel’One offers a unique blend of R&D services and hosting facilities, providing a dynamic environment for groundbreaking research and development. It aims to bridge the gap between fundamental research and industrial applications. Axel’One provides access to pilot lines operating under industrial conditions, allowing researchers to test and scale up their innovations. It also offers expertise and support for turnkey R&D services, tailored to the specific needs of each project. Furthermore, Axel’One provides spaces for collaborative projects, including offices, laboratories, and technological halls.
