Its story began in 1892, when a small group of 17 charter members gathered in a modest church on Jones Street. They named it Third Baptist Church but soon changed it to Immanuel Baptist Church, signifying their faith in God’s presence in their lives. Throughout the years, the church grew and relocated to a location downtown. It was there, on Bishop Street, that the church flourished, experiencing numerous building changes and renovations.
But the desire to expand their reach and better serve the community led them to their current location on Shackleford Road. In 2001, the members voted to relocate, and the first service on the new campus was held on December 14, 2003. This campus is a testament to the church’s commitment to expansion and growth while staying true to its core values. The building is a symbol of their ongoing journey, embracing the future while cherishing the past.
Today, Immanuel Baptist Church in Little Rock is a vibrant hub of community, faith, and outreach.
