This vast space houses 27 boarding gates. Ten of these gates feature passenger bridges. This allows for efficient handling of even the largest aircraft. Three of these gates are especially large. They are designed to accommodate the widest and longest planes including the Airbus A380.
The Budapest Airport invested over 50 billion forints in the BUD 2020 development program. The 2B utasmóló is a key part of this project. Its design mirrors the style of the SkyCourt. The construction of the 2B utasmóló was entrusted to KÉSZ Építő Zrt. They are a renowned construction company. They previously built the SkyCourt. The architects Tima Zoltán also designed the SkyCourt. This ensured a seamless transition between older and newer buildings.
The 2B utasmóló is more than just functional. It is also designed for passenger comfort. The interior design echoes the welcoming style of the SkyCourt. There are abundant glass surfaces. The interior design is kept minimal. This lets natural light flood in. Passengers can enjoy excellent views.
The opening of the 2B utasmóló significantly increased the airport’s capacity. It allowed for an almost 50% increase in departure capacity.
