“Around June 1973 the making of the forerunner of the establishment began.” That’s how the story of Masjid Asyakirin began. This mosque stands in the Kav. Pondok Bambu complex in East Jakarta. It is a testament to community spirit and faith.

Masjid Asyakirin is more than just a place of worship. It is a symbol of unity and progress for the people of Pondok Bambu.

The initial construction finished in November 1973. The mosque measured 10 m x 7 m. It was a modest start for what would become a vital community hub.

The first Friday prayer happened in November 1977. This marked a significant milestone for the growing congregation. Masjid Asyakirin quickly became central to the community’s spiritual life.

In August 1974, Masjid Asyakirin began offering religious education. This nurtured future generations within the community. It ensured the values and teachings of Islam would continue.

The first major renovation of Masjid Asyakirin completed in 1977. Pj. Governor of DKI Jakarta, Letjen Purn. TNI Tjokro Pranolo, inaugurated it. This marked a new chapter. The mosque expanded to serve the increasing number of worshippers.

For over 35 years, Masjid Asyakirin has been at the heart of Pondok Bambu. It has seen rapid progress. The congregation has grown substantially. The mosque stands as a beacon of faith in Jakarta.

Masjid Jami As-Syakirin in Kampung Cipinang Bali has a slightly different story. This mosque is on Jl. Inspeksi Saluran Tarum Barat. It is on the banks of Kalimalang. It has been there since the 1970s.

A total renovation in the mid-1980s gave it a beautiful multi-story look. Locals remember the street in front became congested. This was due to fundraising for the renovation.

Initially a regular mosque, it became Masjid Jami As-Syakirin. It even launched a website. The website provided information about its activities.

These two stories highlight the importance of mosques. They show how they serve as landmarks and community hubs. Masjid Asyakirin in Pondok Bambu and Masjid Jami As-Syakirin in Cipinang Bali are examples. They both reflect the community’s commitment to faith and progress.

As you stand here, consider the generations who have prayed within these walls. Think about the children who learned about their faith here. Envision the community gatherings. This has made Masjid Asyakirin a place of faith for so many.

Masjid Asyakirin is more than bricks and mortar. It embodies the spirit of Jakarta. It reflects Jakarta’s rich history and unwavering faith. It is a testament to the enduring power of community. It is a symbol of devotion in the heart of a bustling city.
