Tabernacle Church of God

Born from prayer the Tabernacle Church of God in Chicago stands as a testament to faith. Pastor Al and Chrissy Toledo moved their family from New York in 2002. They answered a call to serve Chicago. A group sought a pastor and the church was born. Early services were held in a basement. Limited space hindered growth. The church needed a miracle a building and funds. In what is known as “The 7 Day Miracle” God provided a new facility. The church moved to 4201 N Troy in May 2002. Growth continued. In 2003 the church launched “The Story of Love” a dramatic presentation sharing God’s love. This outreach fostered service and deeper relationships. The congregation expanded. By 2005 the church needed more space again. Services moved to John B Murphy Elementary School. The church became a “moving tent” for several years. This period defined their commitment to service. In 2007 the church revolutionized its Vacation Bible School. It became “Kids Week of Adventure” a spiritual Disney World. This involved artists actors and musicians. Many joined the church’s arts community. The church’s identity evolved through arts ministry. That same year 2007 a new website launched. It clarified the church’s mission inspired by John 1:12. The church became a “place of becoming” for those seeking God. People pursued God loved with His heart and served others. In 2010 multiple services began. The church remodeled its lower level creating CT’s Playhouse a children’s worship space. More growth followed. The “6:10 Project” began in 2013. This was inspired by Matthew 6:10 “Your kingdom come your will be done on earth as it is in heaven”. The church sought a larger space to raise the next generation preach the Gospel through the arts and continue ministry. Members sacrificially gave and prayed. In 2015 the Tabernacle Church of God moved to its current location 3231 N Cicero. The church experienced unprecedented growth. Hundreds came to know the Lord. Years of prayer were fulfilled inspiring even greater prayers. The Tabernacle Church of God a beacon of faith continues its work in Chicago.
