Right here, we stand before the Ho Bee Auditorium. It is a jewel within the National University of Singapore’s University Cultural Centre. The Ho Bee Auditorium stands ready to embrace audiences with its state-of-the-art technology.
Let’s dive into what makes the Ho Bee Auditorium so special. This auditorium isn’t just any venue. It is a cultural hub where countless stories have unfolded. It accommodates up to 1,700 attendees. Its horseshoe-shaped seating area features two tiers of balconies. These balconies rise above the stall seating.
Imagine the energy here during an orchestral performance. Feel the anticipation before a musical begins. The Ho Bee Auditorium hosts a wide range of events. These include faculty events and commencement ceremonies. It also hosts external hires. The auditorium adapts to each event with ease.
The Ho Bee Auditorium has undergone significant upgrades. In January 2024, it became the first venue in Singapore to be equipped with L-ISA Immersive Audio Technology. This cutting-edge system transforms the listening experience.
Concept Systems Technologies played a crucial role in this upgrade. They were appointed by the NUS University Infrastructure Cluster. They upgraded the audio system with L-Acoustics technology. L-Acoustics Application Engineer Chung Wah Khiew assisted. He designed an L-ISA configuration using Soundvision 3D modelling software.
The new audio setup is impressive. It features five hangs of A15i Focus and A15i Wide speakers. Eight KS21i subwoofers provide low-end definition. Seven X8 coaxial speakers deliver front-fill. Nine 5XT coaxials and two Syva colinear line source speakers act as deck-fill. Fourteen 5XT speakers fill the Grand Circle and Circle seating areas. The system is powered by multiple LA4X, LA2Xi, and LA7.16i amplified controllers. Driven by L-ISA Processor II, the system also uses a P1 processor and an LS10 switch.
The upgrade ensures high-quality Milan-AVB signal distribution. The NUS UCC technical team received special training. L-Acoustics APAC Application Engineers provided this training. They offered live mixing training courses. This armed the team with vital skills to harness the power of L-ISA.
The Ho Bee Auditorium is designed for optimal acoustic performance. Its modified horseshoe shape helps achieve this. The auditorium is suitable for orchestra performances and music concerts. It also works well for operas, dances, and musicals. Multimedia presentations, seminars, and convocation ceremonies are also held here.
Recently, the Ho Bee Auditorium added digital live-streaming capability. It can now host virtual and hybrid events. This makes it a versatile venue for the modern age.
Consider the impact of this space. It is a place of learning and celebration. It is a place where technology meets art. The Ho Bee Auditorium enriches the cultural landscape of Singapore. As we conclude our visit to the Ho Bee Auditorium, remember that you have witnessed Singapore’s commitment to providing immersive experiences. The Ho Bee Auditorium is a beacon of innovation.
