On Woodvill Road in Leatherhead, you’ll find Leatherhead Trinity School and Nursery, a thriving hub of learning for children ages 2 to 11. This grand institution has a rich history, evolving from a humble Mission Church and Sunday School into a modern, all-through primary school.
Imagine the scene in 1877. The future All Saints’ School opened its doors in a disused engine house, a far cry from the school we see today. This modest beginning speaks volumes about the community’s dedication to education. It wasn’t long before All Saints’ School thrived, demanding a new building. Formally opened in 1900, the school resided in this building for three-quarters of a century – now the North Leatherhead Community Association Centre.
The years passed, and the school grew. In 1953, All Saints’ Junior School moved to the present site on Woodvill Road. This move marked a significant turning point in the school’s journey. The Woodville School, a Surrey County Junior School, took over the original location. This shift was a reflection of the growing demand for education and the need to accommodate an increasing number of students.
In 2005, a monumental decision was made to merge three schools: St Mary’s Infant School, All Saints Infant School, and The Woodville Junior School. This merger gave rise to Leatherhead Trinity School, a testament to the power of collaboration. The Duke of Kent officially opened the school on November 25, 2010.
The school has continued to flourish, and in 2018, the Nursery was moved from the Children’s Centre to the main school site on Woodvill Road. The Nursery is a testament to the school’s commitment to providing a nurturing environment for children of all ages.
