What began as a vision has blossomed into a cornerstone of the community: West Portal Lutheran Church & School. The school at West Portal Lutheran Church serves many students. In 2021-2022, it enrolled students from kindergarten through eighth grade. Kindergarten had 22 students. First grade had 24. Second grade had 22. Third grade was larger with 46 students. Fourth and fifth grades each had 41 and 46 students respectively. Sixth grade had 38 students. Seventh grade had 50. Eighth grade had 45 students.

The student body is diverse. A large portion of the students are Asian with 321 enrolled. There was 1 Black student. Four students were White. Eight students identified as Two or More Races. The school is not associated with any specific organizations.
