Have you ever imagined a royal residence transformed into a bustling hub of industry? Right here, amidst the vibrant tapestry of the 13th arrondissement, stands the elegant **Chu00e2teau de la Reine Blanche**. It’s a place where history whispers through the centuries, echoing with the lives of noblewomen and skilled artisans.

Imagine the year 1290. Queen Marguerite of Provence, widow of King Louis IX, sought solace from the courtly life, dreaming of peace and solitude. She chose to build a grand manor by the River Biu00e8vre, close to the convent of the Cordeliu00e8res, which she had founded decades earlier. Upon her death, it was her daughter Blanche de France who inherited the mansion. As a widowed queen, Blanche was required to wear white, the color of mourning for French royalty, giving the home its name. Even though the original chateau was tragically destroyed in 1404, its legacy lived on.

The area attracted numerous dyers, including the renowned Gobelin family. They rebuilt a grand mansion and industrial buildings on the site of the old **Chu00e2teau de la Reine Blanche**, retaining its name. The building that stands today dates back to the 15th and 16th centuries, witness to a tapestry woven with stories. It has seen a multitude of uses: a brewery, a tile factory, even a tannery, eventually becoming the headquarters of a Jacobin club! Today, **Chu00e2teau de la Reine Blanche** is a protected historical monument, a hidden gem that reveals the ever-changing face of Paris. Walk past its walls and let your imagination wander, picturing the royal figures and industrious artisans who once called it home.
