What if I told you that even in one of the most secular countries in the Americas, faith finds a way to flourish? Right here, in the suburbs of Montevideo, stands Maranatha. Maranatha isn’t just a name. It’s a testament to the unwavering belief in the power of education to nurture faith. This story begins with a school, the Barros Blancos Adventist School, facing imminent closure. The building was crumbling, student enrollment dwindling, a fading beacon in a secular landscape. But the teachers, they held onto hope. They poured their hearts and souls into reviving the school, sacrificing their salaries, tirelessly recruiting students. Their dedication paid off. Maranatha, a non-profit organization, answered their call, recognizing the potential within these walls. In 2017, they embarked on a project to breathe new life into this worthy endeavor. They built an eight-classroom Education and Evangelism Center, a beacon of hope for the community. This expansion meant more than just bricks and mortar. It meant a chance for 320 students to experience the transformative power of education, a chance for faith to take root and blossom.
