Craving a glimpse behind the scenes of Latin America’s largest television empire? You’ve arrived at Estúdios Globo. Before you stands more than just a production complex. This is the heart of Brazilian television. It’s a place where dreams are manufactured and stories come alive.

Estúdios Globo began its journey humbly. Its former studios opened in 1965. They soon became too small for the growing ambitions of Rede Globo. By 1980, the need for a larger, more modern facility was undeniable. Thus, Projeto Jacarepaguá was conceived. It was an ambitious plan to consolidate all aspects of television production into one mega-complex.

The journey from conception to inauguration was epic. It took almost fifteen years. Until its opening in 1995, Globo’s operations were scattered across Rio. Production occurred in rented studios and converted theaters. Imagine the logistical challenges. Scenery workshops in São Cristóvão. Productions filmed at Cyll Farney’s Tycoon studios. Even Renato Aragão’s studios played a part.

Finally, in 1995, Projeto Jacarepaguá opened its doors. It was a watershed moment for Brazilian television. The complex brought studios, administration, and production under one roof. This marked a new era of efficiency and creativity.

Originally known as Projac, the complex underwent a rebranding in 2016. The name changed to Estúdios Globo. The new board felt “Projac” no longer conveyed the studio’s modern spirit.

Today, Estúdios Globo sprawls across 1.73 million square meters. It is the largest television production center in Latin America. The area houses thirteen state-of-the-art recording studios. The facilities also include editing suites, special effects departments and costume workshops. There are even fictional cities built here.

In 2019, Estúdios Globo expanded further. Production Module 4 (MG4) added three new studios. These studios K, L, and M cover 26,000 square meters. This expansion boosted production capacity for a variety of shows. Soap operas, series, realities, and humor shows all benefit.

Walking through Estúdios Globo today is like stepping into another world. Here, countless Brazilian television shows are created. Some of the productions include “Caldeirão com Mion”, “Lady Night” and “É de Casa”.

Estúdios Globo continues to evolve. It embraces new technologies and expands its creative horizons. The complex remains at the forefront of Brazilian entertainment.
