Founded on July 1 1912 Club Almirante Brown stands proudly in Buenos Aires. Its story is one of resilience and passion a testament to the enduring spirit of Argentine football. Initially called Club Atletico Almirante Brown the club adopted its iconic yellow and black stripes. These colors were a happy accident. The club’s first uniforms were the only ones available in stores at the time. They happened to be the striped black and yellow worn by Uruguayan CURCC a precursor to current club Peñarol.
The early years saw Almirante Brown play in various regional leagues. They won their first cup in 1926. A significant victory came in 1929 when they won the La Matanza Partido league. The club faced periods of inactivity. One such period lasted from 1919 to 1922. A group of former members revived the club then named Centro Atletico Almirante Brown.
In 1956 Almirante Brown re-affiliated with the Argentine Football Association. They debuted in Tercera de Ascenso winning their first official title that very season. Notable players from this era include Juan Gallino Andrés Bosco and Segundo Boragno. Ángel Martínez was their coach.
Almirante Brown’s rise continued. They gained promotion to Segunda División de Ascenso and then to Primera B Metropolitana. Their victory in 1965 was particularly noteworthy. They secured the title with 54 points 23 wins and only 3 losses. The team scored an impressive 68 goals while conceding just 28. Their success was due in part to coach Marcos Busico and players such as Oscar Cadars and Miguel Cervello.
The club continued to participate in various leagues. They were close to promotion to Primera División in the 1991-92 season. They played in the final against San Martín de Tucumán. San Martín won and moved up to the top division. A controversial match in 2007 against Estudiantes de Buenos Aires saw Almirante Brown fans throw a bomb onto the field. This caused a major brawl.
