Imagine the year 2006. Professor Dr Faruk Karadoğan the then-rector of Istanbul Technical University. He envisioned a place where learning wasn’t passive. It was active and engaging. A place where theories transformed into tangible experiences. His vision took flight. Thanks in part to generous contributions from ITU alumnus Izzet Silier. They contacted the National Council of Science Centers in Kolkata India. State-of-the-art exhibits were commissioned. Architect Yılmaz Zenger’s design. It transformed the old space into a vibrant hub. A welcoming place for everyone to explore science’s wonders.
The ITU Science Center now stands proudly. It boasts 1500 square meters of indoor space. Another 3500 square meters of outdoor wonderlands await. Explore themes like optics mechanics electricity and space. Discover the magic of fluid dynamics sound and vibration. Seventy exhibits showcase science’s intricate dance. They invite active participation. Prepare to be amazed.
A 140-seat conference hall awaits. It’s a space for lectures and discussions. It’s a space for the exchange of ideas. A library is open to all visitors.
