Have you ever heard about the J.J. Pearce High School in Richardson? This high school was named after Joseph Jones “J.J.” Pearce, who was the superintendent for the Richardson Independent School District from 1946 to 1977. The school was established in 1967 with a group of tenth graders housed at Richardson North Junior High School. Before that, all high school students in the area attended Richardson High School. J.J. Pearce High School is a powerhouse of academic excellence. The school was even a National Blue Ribbon School for the 1988-1989 year. Its Academic Decathlon team is one of the most consistent in the state, having won five national championships. It’s also a celebrated theater program that’s received numerous awards and recognitions, as well as being a place where Jessica Simpson attended before she became famous! The school is currently undergoing a massive renovation project that is expected to be completed in August 2024.
